Junior instructors have completed intensive Stott Pilates training. Senior instructors have passed their Level 1 or IMP & IR Stott Pilates exam. Lead instructors have completed Level 2 Stott Pilates exam.
Our instructors have undergone lengthy training because we are also a host teacher training centre allied to Stott Pilates in Canada. Come to experience the difference.
Our equipment is imported from Canada. They are made in Canada with airplane grade steel and Canada’s own maple wood. Our bolts and patented pulley systems are sourced from the best sailing company in Australia. We are a full-equipment studio with reformers, cadillacs, stability chairs, ladder barrels, arc barrels and spine correctors.
We are an international community at Birr Pilates with trainers from Singapore, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Brazil, Germany and, of course, Vietnam. Classes are predominantly taught in English but they can be taught in a variety of languages. Notably, we now also have group reformer classes in Japanese, Korean and Mandarin Chinese. Next up, Portugese classes?
The ideal way to start pilates is to take a few private classes to build a solid understanding of pilates principles and master key exercises before transitioning to group exercises if you wish. The ideal intro pass is a good option. Some do continue a mixture of group and private classes. Others prefer group eventually. And there are those who just love private sessions.
If starting with private classes is not an option, you can start with beginner level reformer group classes. Mat classes are safe for all levels.
Like yoga, pilates is slower paced with a focus on mindful movement with our breath. On top of this, Pilates has an emphasis on optimal spinal health and it addresses muscular imbalances over time. Depending on the focus of the pilates exercises, it can be more rehab or sports conditioning.
Classical Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates and believes in the importance of returning to a straight spine to perform a precise series of exercises. Stott Pilates is an evolution of classical pilates and developed in collaboration with physiotherapists and the latest in exercise science. It stresses the customisation of pilates exercises to individual needs.

Always prebook a class. Come 10 mins earlier to your first class to fill in a registration form. Bring a pair of grip socks if you have one or regular socks if you don’t. Please take the lift to level M and wait at the sofa outside the studio until it’s time for your class. The stairs that lead up to the studio can be slippery and we do not advise you to walk up that way. Use it at your own risk if you insist. Wear workout clothes and leave your shoes outside the studio. Switch your handphone to silent mode. Bring your own towel if you intend to shower after class. Shower, toilet and changing facilities are available.
