Priscilla is a fully-certified Merrithew Stott Pilates trainer for Reformer, Cadillac, Barrels, Chair, Mat, Injuries and Special Populations. She is also a certified Stott Pilates Instructor Trainer for IMP, IR, AM and AR teacher training courses. On top of Zenga and Fascial Training, she has completed the Norwegian RedCord Active Suspension Training System.
Lan is a fully certified Merrithew Stott Pilates trainer for Reformer, Cadillac, Barrels, Chair, Mat, Injuries and Special Populations.
She comes from a background in dance and has more than 9 years of experience teaching pilates. She believes in absorbing the best from different pilates methodology and fusing them with her own experience. Calm and patient, she has developed a close relationship with many of her clients – some have been with her from day one.
Since 2013, Lan has also taught TRX and weight training. In 2019, she was certified in Stott Pilates Barre Intensity. Lan is fluent in Vietnamese and English.
Erik was a Personal Trainer at the gym before he discovered Pilates. He was converted by his own transformation – a stronger core which led to greater endurance, strength and flexibility, a return to alignment of his posture, a better sense of balance and stronger joints. He has a passion for fitness and a love for Pilates that is as infectious as his smile. He has been teaching Pilates for more than 3 years. Erik has also completed Stott Pilates Level 1, Advanced Reformer, Cadillac,Chair and Barrels teacher training.
Sayaka is a Stott Pilates certified Level 1 instructor who has been teaching for almost 2 years at Birr. Inspired by Joseph Pilates’s amazing achievement and the effect that Pilates has on different body types, she embarked on her own Pilates journey in 2015. The more she practiced, the better she felt despite having rheumatoid arthritis. Her own experience reaffirms her belief that constant movement can heal both mind and body and motivates her to help others. Sayaka teaches in Japanese and English.
Hailing from Korea, Nan Hee discovered pilates as studios were opening up from COVID lockdowns. After several months practicing, she discovered that the chronic shoulder pain and back problems that had plagued her most of her adult life began to subside and eventually went away. She developed strong posture, balance, and a notable improvement in her golf swing. Moving to Ho Chi Minh city, she undertook training to become an instructor at BIRR to pass on the benefits of Pliates to others. Nan Hee has completed Stott Pilates Level 1 and 2 teacher training. Fluent in Korean and English, she teaches at both the Thao Dien and D7 branches.
Ivy started her pilates journey in early 2000 but never truly related to its benefits until she went for post-natal therapy in 2016. At the age of 35, she was fascinated by how pilates helped her body transformation back to its original strength.
She hopes to share the importance of body coordination and flexibility – how the utilisation of deeper muscle groups could sharpen the body’s instinctive response to its physical surroundings once we have good awareness. Ivy has completed Stott Pilates Level 1 and level 2 teacher training.
She teaches in Mandarin Chinese and English at both Thao Dien and D7.
Angie is a fully-certified Merrithew Stott Pilates trainer for Reformer, Cadillac, Barrels, Chair, Mat, Injuries and Special Populations. She was at the very first MERRITHEW Stott Pilates instructor training course in Vietnam at BIRR studio.
For many years, Angie suffered from severe lower back pains, which couldn’t be cured by regular swimming, yoga and/or several visits to physiotherapists and other health practitioners. Then finally one recommended her to start regular Pilates exercises to enhance core strength. Within six months the back pains eased. Angie wanted to share her amazing experience with fellow sufferers and began her Pilates instructor journey, which to the day she enjoys doing, when she witnesses clients’ improvements on so many levels.
1) I’m new to Birr Pilates. Are there trial classes?
If you are a resident of HCMC, you may try your first class (private or group) at 50% off! Just text us to prebook your class. Alternatively, you may sign up for our good value intro passes which are only available to newcomers.
2) How many people are there in a group class?
There is a maximum of 6 per reformer group class. There is a maximum of 10 per group mat class if it is held in the main studio, and a maximum of 5 if the group mat class is held in the apartment.
3) How do I schedule private classes or duo (2 clients to 1 instructor) classes?
Just text Lan at +84 93 524 6250 to book a class with your preferred instructor at a time that works for both of you. After the initial session and payment of package, your trainer will lease directly with you to fix a time for future classes.
4) What’s the difference between the different instructor labels?
Junior instructors have completed intensive Stott Pilates training. Senior instructors have passed their Level 1 or IMP & IR Stott Pilates exam. Lead instructors have completed Level 2 Stott Pilates exam.
5) Where is your equipment from?
Our equipment is imported from Canada. They are made in Canada with airplane grade steel and Canada’s own maple wood. Our bolts and patented pulley systems are sourced from the best sailing company in Australia. We are a full-equipment studio with reformers, cadillacs, stability chairs, ladder barrels, arc barrels and spine correctors.
6) Where are your instructors from?
We are an international community at Birr Pilates with trainers from Singapore, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Brazil, Germany and, of course, Vietnam. Classes are predominantly taught in English but they can be taught in a variety of languages. Notably, we now also have group reformer classes in Japanese, Korean and Mandarin Chinese. Next up, Portugese classes?
7) I have never done pilates before. How do I start?
The ideal way to start pilates is to take a few private classes to build a solid understanding of pilates principles and master key exercises before transitioning to group exercises if you wish. The ideal intro pass is a good option. Some do continue a mixture of group and private classes. Others prefer group eventually. And there are those who just love private sessions.
If starting with private classes is not an option, you can start with beginner level reformer group classes. Mat classes are safe for all levels.
8) What is the difference between Pilates and Yoga?
Like yoga, pilates is slower paced with a focus on mindful movement with our breath. On top of this, Pilates has an emphasis on optimal spinal health and it addresses muscular imbalances over time. Depending on the focus of the pilates exercises, it can be more rehab or sports conditioning.
9) What is the difference between Classical Pilates and Stott Pilates?
Classical Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates and believes in the importance of returning to a straight spine to perform a precise series of exercises. Stott Pilates is an evolution of classical pilates and developed in collaboration with physiotherapists and the latest in exercise science. It stresses the customisation of pilates exercises to individual needs.

Clients Testimotional
“In my case, after giving birth, Birr helped me close my abdominal wall separation and later from back injury after I fell down the stairs. It really changed the way I think about exercising. That’s why I highly recommend Birr Pilates to anyone who wants a customised Pilates experience.”
Gabriela Tick
“Priscilla is a very precise and thorough instructor, she pays close attention to each move to ensure proper position and movement. She varies every single session so that they are not repetitive, but there is a constant line so that progress can be seen/felt.”
